The purpose of Turning in Heels is to give dancers the technical tools they need to turn with confidence, control, and clarity while wearing heels. This class is designed to bridge the gap between raw performance and refined technique by focusing on the fundamentals that support powerful, clean turns.
Whether you're spinning across the floor or hitting a controlled pirouette in place, the goal is to strengthen your foundation—so your balance, lines, and execution remain consistent, intentional, and effortless in heels. This is a space for dancers to correct habits, deepen body awareness, and build the technical strength that elevates both your artistry and your performance.
The focus of Turning in Heels is to build strong, consistent turning technique through intentional training. Dancers will refine the foundational elements required for clean turns—proper alignment, core engagement, spotting, balance, and use of arms and opposition—and learn how to translate those mechanics seamlessly into heels.
We break down and correct technical habits that may be limiting your control, and work to enhance your body placement, stability, and precision. There’s a strong emphasis on maintaining lines, fluid transitions, and power in motion, all while staying grounded and confident in your heels.
This class is ideal for intermediate and advanced dancers who are looking to polish their technique, strengthen their turns, and bring more sophistication, intention, and command to their movement.
